St. Devasahayam Anbiyam
Our Patron
St. Devasahayam Pillai is the first Indian layman to be declared a Saint. A convert to Catholicism in the 18th century, he faced severe persecution and eventually martyrdom for his faith. He is a symbol of standing for equality and Christ’s love against all odds.
Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. — Revelation 2:10.
- Community Spirit: As a community bearing the name of our great Tamil Saint, we carry a unique sense of pride and responsibility. St. Devasahayam Anbiyam focuses on “Lay Witness”—showing that one does not need to be a priest or nun to live a life of heroic virtue. We are a group that values courage, social justice, and the deep cultural roots of our Tamil heritage. In our weekly meetings, we draw inspiration from the Saint’s resilience. We focus on how to live out our Catholic values in a modern, professional workplace while staying true to our identity. We are a support system for workers and professionals, encouraging each other to be “the light of the world” in our daily environments.
- Prayer Meetings: Every week on Saturdays.
