The Service: Organizing the annual sports meet, community picnics, and outdoor fellowship events. They also coordinate teams to represent the SMTC in various Parish-level sporting competitions.
The Sports & Outdoor Ministry fosters health, teamwork, and fellowship within the Tamil community. By organizing events that bring families together in the open air, they build bonds that go beyond the church walls. These events—like the annual picnic or sports day—provide a much-needed space for relaxation and community building in a busy urban environment like Dubai.
The ministry is responsible for all aspects of these events, from booking venues and arranging transportation to organizing matches and prizes. Their work encourages a lifestyle of fitness and cooperation among our members. They also play a key role in identifying and nurturing sporting talent within the community, preparing teams to compete in Parish-level tournaments.
By participating in Parish sports meets, the SMTC athletes build friendships with members of other language communities, promoting a spirit of unity through healthy competition. This ministry reminds us that our faith covers every aspect of our lives, including our physical well-being and our social interactions. They ensure the SMTC is a well-rounded and joyful family.
